Meet the Children Whose Lives Have Been Changed by Our Aim Foundation’s Education Program

Dunedin US – July 20th 2023 / Our AIM Foundation /

Our Aim Foundation (OAF) is a non-profit organization working to improve children’s lives globally. One of OAF’s key programs is its education program, which provides free education to children from underserved communities in various countries.

Educational Challenges in Pakistan and Malawi

Education is a fundamental human right, but it is not always accessible to everyone. In Pakistan and Malawi, there are a number of challenges that make it difficult for children to get an education. These challenges include:

  • Poverty: Many families in Pakistan and Malawi cannot afford to send their children to school. According to the World Bank, 22% of people in Pakistan live below the national poverty line, and 43% of people in Malawi live below the national poverty line.
  • Gender inequality: In some communities, girls are not allowed to go to school. According to UNICEF, the female literacy rate in Pakistan is 49%, and the female literacy rate in Malawi is only 31%.
  • Distance: Schools are often located far away from rural communities, making it difficult for children to get to school. In both countries, the average distance to the nearest primary school is 2.6 kilometers.
  • Quality of education: The quality of education in Pakistan and Malawi is often poor. Teachers are not always well-trained, and the curriculum is not always relevant to the needs of the students. According to the World Bank, only 47% of grade 5 students in Pakistan can read at a basic level, and only 35% of grade 5 students in Malawi can read at a basic level.

Our Aim Foundation’s Education Program

OAF’s education program addresses these challenges by providing free education to children from underserved communities in Pakistan and Malawi. The program operates schools in rural areas, and it also provides scholarships to children who live in urban areas. The OAF schools offer a high-quality education that is relevant to the needs of the students. The curriculum includes subjects such as English, math, science, and computer science. The schools also offer extracurricular activities such as sports, art, and music.

In addition to providing free education, the OAF education program also works to improve the quality of education in Pakistan and Malawi. The OAF program also provides teachers with training and resources and ensures that the curriculum is relevant to the needs of the students. Another goal of the program is to raise awareness about the importance of education in these communities so the importance of education is communicated through radio and television campaigns. Its programs are helping to break the cycle of poverty, empower women and girls, and create a more equitable society.

Waidh Bux’s Story

One of the children who has benefited from the OAF education program is Waidh Bux. Waidh Bux is a 10-year-old boy who lives in a rural village in Pakistan. Before joining the OAF program, Waidh Bux was not attending school. His parents could not afford to send him to school, and the local school was in poor condition.

Waidh Bux’s parents are illiterate farmers who live in a small village in the Sindh province of Pakistan. They have six children, and they struggle to make ends meet. When Waidh Bux was younger, they could not afford to send him to school. The local school was in poor condition, and the teachers were not qualified.

His parents heard about the OAF education program and were eager to enroll him in the program, and they were relieved to find that it was free of charge. The OAF program operates a school in their village, and it provides free education to children from underserved communities.

Waidh Bux has been attending the OAF school for two years now, and he has made significant progress in his studies. He is now excelling in his classes, and he has even won a few awards for his academic achievements. Waidh Bux is also more confident and self-assured than he was before. He is more engaged with his peers, and more willing to participate in class discussions.

In addition to the academic benefits, the OAF program has also had a positive impact on Waidh Bux’s social-emotional development. He is now more aware of his rights and responsibilities, and he is more confident in his ability to succeed. He is also more likely to stand up for himself and others.

The OAF education program has also eased the financial burden on Waidh Bux’s family by providing him with the opportunity to learn computer skills, which will be valuable in the future job market.

Other Impact Stories

In addition to Waidh Bux’s story, there are many other stories of children who have benefited from the OAF education program. For example, there is the story of Tiyamike Mtema, a 22-year-old woman from Malawi who has learned how to sew dresses and men’s shirts through the OAF empowerment training program. Tiyamike is now able to start her own tailoring business, and she is providing for her family.

Another story is that of Muhammad Ali, a 16-year-old boy from Afghanistan who was able to continue his education after his family was displaced by war. Muhammad is now a top student at his school, and he is planning to go on to college.

These are just a few of the many stories of the people who have benefited from the OAF education program. Learn more about OAF’s education program and see the impact they are making.
