How One Nonprofit’s Skill Development Initiative is Empowering Women
Our Aim Foundation is proud to announce the inauguration of a specialized women empowerment center, aiming to address the challenges faced by Rohingya women refugees in India. Commencing operations in March 2024 within a Rohingya refugee camp, this initiative seeks to provide essential support and opportunities for this marginalized community.
Sewing Skills for Economic Independence
The center will start by enrolling 20 Rohingya women in a comprehensive sewing training program. Beyond mere skill acquisition, this program aims to foster economic independence by equipping participants with essential sewing techniques. Under skilled trainers’ guidance, women will learn not only garment creation but also garment repair and alteration, opening doors to various income-generating opportunities.
Recognizing the challenges faced by Rohingya women, Our Aim Foundation’s women empowerment center exemplifies its commitment to empowering marginalized communities. By providing valuable skills and a supportive environment, the foundation enables these women to build brighter futures for themselves and their families.

Our Aim Foundation launches a transformative initiative aimed at providing comprehensive sewing training to 20 Rohingya women. Beyond skill acquisition, this program prepares participants for employment within the textile industry and other sectors. Under experienced trainers’ guidance, women will master essential sewing techniques, paving the way for economic empowerment.
“We believe that by equipping Rohingya women with valuable skills and fostering a supportive environment, we can empower them to build a brighter future for themselves and their families,” says Nisha Mandani, Founder of Our Aim Foundation. “This initiative is just the beginning, and we are committed to expanding our programs to create a lasting positive impact on the lives of these women.”
Looking Ahead
Our Aim Foundation is committed to the initiative’s long-term success, with plans to expand programs to include additional women or incorporate other skill-development programs. This expansion aims to further empower Rohingya women and foster a thriving community within the refugee camp.
