Alisha is a designer, researcher, author, and educator interested in exploring experiential and experimental ways of
integrating craft, wellness, play, esthetics, & interactive technologies for creative learning. She has led many maker-
based learning initiatives and has been dedicated to pushing maker education with smart and adaptive materials for
nearly a decade. She has a strong background in designing and pioneering initiatives, infrastructure, and resources
that provide rich and meaningful pathways for young people and educators from diverse socio-economic
backgrounds, including underrepresented communities, to engage in interdisciplinary STEM learning explorations.
Her first book StartMaking!: A Guide to Engaging Young People in Maker Activities has been translated into different
languages and adopted in many countries.
