Francis Kaphuka, also known as Hyphen and previously as Young Kay, is a well-known hip-hop artist from Malawi. He’s famous for blending local Malawian folk tunes with different styles from around the world. Many consider him one of the best lyricists in Malawi. He’s won awards for his rap skills, like being voted as Malawi’s best rapper twice by Joy FM fans. In 2021, he was crowned the King of Malawian Hip-hop by fans on Mikozi Networks, a big online platform in Malawi. He got his start with Rush Records with the song “I’m Home,” and since then, he’s become one of Malawi’s top hip-hop artists, with hits like “Zipepese,” which reached number 2 on FM 101 Power’s urban music chart. Through his fame and influence, he raises awareness about social issues and participates in various charitable activities aimed at improving the lives of people in need. His commitment to giving back to society has earned him respect and admiration beyond his music career, making him a role model for social responsibility in the Malawian hip-hop scene.
