Tereza Akimu is a 10-year-old girl who lives in Nedi Village, in Traditional Authority Mkanda in Mchinji District, Malawi. She is a jovial and happy girl, and loves playing with her friends.Tereza lives with both parents and her two brothers inside a grass thatched house that doesn’t keep them insulated from the weather. The roof leaks when the rain is falling, and strong wind can damage the walls.Tereza goes to school at Ngoza Primary School. She dreams of becoming a primary school teacher when she grows up, helping to continue the mission of educating others. However, she is afraid that her dream may not come true because of the impoverishing conditions that her family suffers from. Most days, Tereza only eats a single meal a day, affecting her health and in turn her performance in school. She has missed several classes this session due to sickness.Tereza also lacks other basic necessities which every child needs to pursue their education: school uniform, shoes, notebooks, pens and paper, just to name a few.Her parents depend on small scale Tobacco farming in order to feed the family and also support Tereza. But what they earn is not enough. If Tereza’s family doesn’t receive adequate aid, she may not be able to fulfill her potential, and take up the mantle of being an educator. Born on January 16, 2010, Tereza believes that she can achieve her dreams if has enough support. By donating to OurAim, you improve Tereza’s chances at finding a fulfilling life.
